Increasing internet traffic is the biggest concern right now. Enterprises have to handle the immense traffic and at the same time ensure that the corporate networks are secured and employees are not facing any application performance delays. It is also important to have Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) to secure the applications and keep the systems safe from malware or other threats. Though firewalls are mandate in the current situation, the SSL/TLS encrypted data flow that takes place from these firewalls increase internet traffic and degrades the performance of the applications. Organizations should develop better solutions which will not only fasten the process but also increase the business productivity.
The Tolly Report, a 3rd-party validation firm presented a report which states that a when SSL process is offloaded to Array Networks AVX Series, it helps the IT administrators to experience an increase in Transactions Per Second (TPS), data throughput, and URL response time.
Some off the primary results obtained post the study are:
- Traffic caused due to processing of SSL/TLS dropped dramatically on per second count in virtual WAF transactions, optimizing the URL response time.
- Similar results were obtained in the virtual NGFW transactions including similar performance hits.
- AVX Series platform and SSL offload products of Array helped in improving the performance for both WAF and NGFW.
The above results clearly show a more traffic-free route for the internet users in corporate networks. Array’s AVX network functions platform series is a perfect solution as it is not only time-saving but also economical and at the same time provides better performance without sacrificing the agility of virtual appliances.
