Apple Watch with ‘wearable, rollable, and foldable displays’ may be in works

It looks like Apple is not only focusing on its upcoming iPhones, but is also planning to make the Apple Watch better. The Cupertino-based tech company has been recently granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), indicating some innovations that it may bring to future generations of the Apple Watch.
According to the details of the patent, as shared by Patently Apple website, the company could be working on ‘wearable, rollable and foldable displays’ for the next Watch. One of the images included in the patent details the smartwatch having a new design, with a continuous flexible display that goes across the case and the band.
It has been further revealed that future Apple watches could have slimmer bezels around the display. On the inside, the device is said to feature processor and memory to handle user commands. What’s new is that the report mentions the likely inclusion of a communication module, which could mean Bluetooth, WLAN or even cellular data network support.
But since this is just a patent-related information, it’s not for sure whether the technology will ever make it to consumer devices.
A recent report by BGR website suggested that Apple could be working on detachable smart bands for Apple Watch. These could add features such as glucose monitoring or clicking images to the wearable. It would also mean that there may not be an increase in the price of the watch, as users will only have to pay for the bands if they want extra functionality.
The report further talks about possibility of adding more battery life to Apple watch via interchangeable bands.
A source familiar with the company’s plans told the website that Tim Cook and company have “identified the right part of the body and there’s so much more they can and intend to do with the watch.”
