Typically, it encrypts files on the victim’s device, rendering them inaccessible, and demands payment for the decryption key needed to unlock the files. HCLTech emphasized the importance of cybersecurity measures such as regular data backups, software updates, strong security software usage, and cautious interaction with online content to mitigate the risk of falling victim to ransomware attacks.

In a related incident, there were reports of leaked footage from Insomniac’s highly anticipated Wolverine game following a breach. Cyber Daily’s investigation revealed that the Ryhsida ransomware group disclosed 1.67 terabytes of data, comprising over 1.3 million files, obtained during a hack on December 12th. The leaked data includes intricate details about level design and character materials from the upcoming Wolverine title. Moreover, confidential internal presentations reveal information on undisclosed Insomniac and Sony game projects, including plans for a trilogy of X-Men titles.

The leaked materials also provide insights into the development and marketing budgets, with a trilogy of X-Men titles planned, starting with Wolverine as the inaugural release. The subsequent games in the trilogy are slated for launch by the end of 2029 and 2033, respectively. Additionally, information about a third Spider-Man installment, a Venom-based game, and a new entry in the Ratchet and Clank franchise has surfaced from the leaked data.
