The biggest renewable energy park in the world is now active in India

India is witnessing rapid growth in renewable electricity, outpacing other major economies. With plans to host one of the world’s largest clean energy farms, the country aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels for energy generation.

Adani Green Energy Limited has achieved a significant milestone by activating 1,000 MW of solar energy capacity at the world’s largest renewable energy park in Khavda, Gujarat. This accomplishment was realized in under 12 months since the commencement of work, involving the installation of approximately 2.4 million solar modules.

Aligned with India’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, Adani Green Energy Limited is steadfast in its journey towards the stated target of 45,000 MW.

Spanning a colossal 538 sq km of barren land, the world’s largest renewable energy plant boasts a capacity of 30 GW, making it five times the size of Paris. Situated in a region with abundant solar irradiation and optimal wind resources, the project is projected to be completed within the next five years, creating over 15,200 green jobs and contributing to carbon footprint reduction.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, including India’s largest onshore wind turbine generator and bifacial solar PV modules, the plant incorporates horizontal single-axis tracker systems to maximize energy collection by tracking the sun’s movement.

Furthermore, the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Adani’s Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC) platform facilitates real-time automated operation and monitoring of the plant, showcasing technological advancements in the energy sector.

The renewable energy project aims to generate 81 billion units of clean electricity, catering to approximately 16.1 million households. Notably, it is expected to mitigate 58 million tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 2,761 million trees.

The initiative’s environmental impact is substantial, akin to preventing the burning of 60,300 tonnes of coal and removing approximately 12.6 million cars from the roads, underscoring its role in combating climate change and promoting a cleaner, healthier planet.

Adani Green Energy Limited prioritizes the implementation of advanced technologies to enhance plant efficiency and durability. Collaborating with domestic and foreign higher education institutions, the company employs subterranean stone columns to reinforce the soil, while corrosion-resistant coatings protect solar module mounting structures and switchyard equipment from harsh environmental conditions.

In essence, India’s strides in renewable energy signify a pivotal step towards achieving sustainable development goals, with Adani Green Energy Limited at the forefront of driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
