Nokia reveals Star Wars-themed video teaser, confirms launch details

Earlier this year at MWC, Nokia (in partnership with HMD Global) announced three new Android-powered smartphones — Nokia 6, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. In addition, the ‘reimagined’ version of the iconic Nokia 3310 was unveiled. But the devices are yet to hit the shelves.
Now, after several unconfirmed reports and rumours about their launch date, the company has finally confirmed when the smartphones will be hitting the markets.
Announcing on both Twitter and YouTube, Nokia said that its new smartphones will arrive in May June.
In response to a user’s query, the company tweeted from its official handle, “Hi, we will be launching globally in the coming months (May-June). Stay tuned for updates!”
When asked about the smartphones’ launch in India by a user on YouTube, the company commented that “We will be launching globally in the coming months (May-June). Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates. We can’t be any more specific at the moment but we promise they will be worth the wait.”
The aforementioned comment was posted in the comments section of Nokia’s new Star Wars-themed video. The video reveals nothing new about the handsets or the company’s plans but, says that the phones will be “coming to your galaxy soon” by referencing the movie’s characters and dialogues. The video is to commemorate 40 years of Star Wars movie series.
HMD Global, the company which holds the licence to manufacture Nokia-branded smartphones, recently started a contest on Instagram, giving users the opportunity to design a limited edition of the ‘new’ Nokia 3310.
The lucky winner will be selected on the basis of the creative work, as judged by the top officials of the company. They’ll get a Nokia 3310 and their selected design will be featured on the limited edition feature phone.
Interested users can upload their Nokia 3310 designs on Instagram with the hashtag #3310 and follow @Nokiamobile. These designs will then be judged by HMD Global and UK-based design studio I Love Dust.
