Xiaomi has posted a teaser saying it will launch the Redmi 3 budget smartphone on January 12.
The post on the company’s Weibo account also mentions that the smartphone will have a 5-inch display and a redesigned metal body. The previous Xiaomi Redmi models – namely Redmi 1S, 2 and 2 Prime – have had 4.7-inch displays and plastic construction.
According to earlier leaks, Xiaomi has used a 5-inch HD (720p) screen and 1.5GHz octa-core processor in the upcoming Redmi 3 smartphone. The smartphone is said to feature 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes just six months after the launch of the Redmi 2 model. It is expected to remain an entry-level device despite the metal body.
