Microsoft May 23rd event confirmed, may launch a new ‘Surface’ device

It seems that Microsoft has plans to stay in the news for the entire month of May. Just days ago, the company unveiled Windows 10 S and Surface Laptop (among other products) at its New York event. Its ‘Build’ developer conference is scheduled for next week. And now, the Redmond-based technology giant has confirmed yet another event for May 23. It’s possible that the company may launch another ‘Surface’ product at the event.
The May 23 event has been confirmed on Instagram by none other than Panos Panay, who heads Microsoft’s Surface division.
The post’s description reads, “See you in Shanghai. May 23. #MicrosoftEvent #Surface”. Although there is no information on what the company might launch at the event, the hashtag #Surface strongly hints that there could be a new hardware launch. Rumours have claimed that the company might launch the Surface Pro 5 or Surface Book 2.
For now, all eyes are glued on Microsoft’s upcoming Build 2017 developer conference, which is scheduled for May 10-12 in Seattle, Washington.
“Software continues to transform the world in remarkable ways and developers are at the centre of it. At Microsoft Build 2017, we invite you to join us in downtown Seattle to learn about latest new technologies and exciting plans on the horizon,” reads the description on the website.
Talking about ‘Surface’ devices, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said in an interview that company’s future smartphones could look completely different .
In a podcast for MarketPlace’s Make Me Smart, Nadella said, “We make phones today, we have OEMs like HP making phones and others, and we picked a very specific area to focus on which is management, security, and this one particular feature that we have called Continuum, which is a phone that can even be a desktop. So when you say ‘when will we make more phones’ I’m sure we’ll make more phones. But they may not look like phones that are there today.”
