LG G6 India launch: Everything you need to know

LG is all set to launch its flagship smartphone, the G6 in India today. The South Korean tech company introduced the smartphone back in February this year during the MWC 2017 conference in Barcelona, Spain. LG recently made its LG G6 available for pre-bookings in India .
As part of the special pre-booking offer, the company is giving a cashback of up to Rs 7,000 (Rs 5,000+ additional Rs 2,000 cash back) to HDFC and SBI card holders. Along with this, the company is also offering 50% discount on LG Tone Active+ HBS-A100 bluetooth headsets.
The offer giving discount on headphones and Rs 5,000 cashback is valid till May 31, while the additional Rs 2,000 cashback is available till April 30. Along with this, the company is also offering EA special gifts worth Rs 14,100 for six games including Temple Run 2, Spider-Man Unlimited and Crossy Road with the G6.
The smartphone comes in Ice Platinum, Atro Black and Mystic White colour options and has a metallic body with chamfered edges. LG G6 is IP68 rated, which makes it water and dust-resistant.
The G6 runs LG UX 6.0 based on the Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. It sports a ‘unique’ 5.7-inch display. The display can be termed ‘unique’ due to the smartphone’s ‘FullVision’ display which boasts of an unusual 1440×2880 pixel resolution. The smartphone’s screen-to-body ratio has also been increased as there are minimal bezels on top and bottom.
As per the company, the ‘FullVision’ display with expanded top and bottom sections will allow users to view more information when surfing the web or reading e-books. It is also claimed to provide a more immersive gaming experience.
LG says that the G6 will include a feature that will allow users to view 16:9 aspect ratio content in 18:9 format. It is also the world’s first smartphone with Dolby Vision viewing technology.
The smartphone relies on Google Assistant and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. LG G6 packs 32GB of inbuilt storage.
For imaging duties, LG G6 comes with a dual-camera setup at the back. Comprising two 13MP sensor modules, the rear camera arrangement is complemented by laser autofocus, triple-axis OIS and LED flash. Users can also shoot 4K resolution videos from the handset. For selfie-lovers a 5MP front shooter is also available with 100-degree wide angle lens and f/2.2 aperture.

LG says that it has enhanced the camera UX too. LG G6 will be able to take images and review them simultaneously. There will also be a ‘Square Camera’ feature which divides the 18:9 displays into two identical perfect squares.
Another mode users will get is the ‘Food Mode’. It will give high-color quality and saturation for food-related shots. In addition, users can make Gifs using any number of images ranging from 2 to 100.
