Gamesa Wins 40 Mw Wind Power Project From Renew Power In India

  • The newly signed project will be commissioned in March 2016

  • The order involves delivering 20 G97-2.0 MW wind turbines in Lingsagur site in Karnataka

Gamesa, the market leader in the Indian wind energy Gamesaspace, today announced that it has bagged yet another order for a 40 MW Wind Power Project with ReNew Power, one of India’s largest clean energy companies. The turnkey project is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2016.

ReNew Power is India’s leading independent power producer (IPP) in the renewable energy sector creating value to its stakeholders through best in class development and management of solar and wind power projects and currently has more than 1300 MW of commissioned and under-construction wind and solar energy projects in its portfolio. As part of the agreement, Gamesa will be supplying 20 G97-2.0 MW T-104m turbines for installation at Lingsagur site in the state of Karnataka, India. This is ReNew Power’s third project in the State of Karnataka with close to 70 MW of operational wind capacity portfolio.

Gamesa has already commissioned 102.65 MW for ReNew Power across Maharashtra and Karnataka and this repeat order is a testament to Gamesa’s proven expertise in wind technology.

Gamesa in India                                                                                       In recent years, India has emerged as one of the most promising wind power markets: installed capacity is expected to increase from close to 23,000 MW today to 40,000 MW by the end of 2019, driven by huge pent-up demand for electricity, according to sector consultancy BTM’s estimates.

The new orders obtained by Gamesa in India reinforce its solid commercial positioning: according to MAKE CONSULT, the company ended 2014 as the leading OEM in the country for the second year running, with a market share of 25% in 2014, compared to 21% in 2013, when it also was the market leader.

Gamesa’s presence in India – as technology provider and wind farm developer – dates back to 2009. To date, Gamesa has installed over 2,100 MW and services more than 1,700 MW under O&M agreements. In addition, in its capacity as wind farm developer, it has developed over 1300 MW.
