Android Wear 5.1.1 Update For Its smartwatches
Google has rolled out an important software for all compatible smartwatches. The announcement was made on one of Android maker’s product forum that it has started rolling out the Android Wear 5.1.1 update for its smartwatches.
Android 5.1.1 is a major update for the wearbale platform from the house of Google. One of the major features that the update offers include the Wi-Fi support. It means that all the smartwatches powered by Android 5.1.1 will be able to wirelessly connect to networks. This functionality will also allow the users to keep their smartwatches in sync with their Android handsets, even if the Bluetooth connectivity is lost.
Some of the smartwatches that will not receive the Wi-Fi support include Asus ZenWatch, LG G Watch and LG G Watch R. However, the ones that will get the support include LG Watch Urbane, Moto 360, Sony Smartwatch 3 and Samsung Gear Live with the Android 5.1.1 update.
The latest software update also offers support for always-on apps, the ability to change the font size,a new gesture for accessing apps and contacts (a left swipe from the watch face), and support for emoji drawing, stated the company. It also packs the all-new heads-up notifications system, that allows the text messages appear on-screen, even if the user is looking at something else on the smartwatch.
With this update, users will also be allowed to change fonts and can lock their smartwatch’s screen when it is not in use. This update will be available only for the devices running the latest version of the Android Wear companion app.
