HealthifyMe’s Snap AI tool turns calorie tracking into an enjoyable and effortless experience, akin to a “Shazam for food”

HealthifyMe’s new Snap AI tool is revolutionizing food tracking by utilizing sophisticated artificial intelligence. It’s a seamless and straightforward approach that significantly simplifies nutritional information monitoring. The VP of Engineering, Abhijit Khasnis, described Snap as the world’s first ‘Fire & Forget’ food recognition system, using a combination of advanced computer vision AI. Users can take a photo of their meal directly from the phone’s lock screen, and the application will leverage the hybrid AI model, combining on-device AI on the user’s phone and more complex models on HealthifyMe’s servers, to accurately identify the food items. Notably, the AI provides personalized insights into macros, micros, and nutritional data specific to the individual.

The primary motivation behind Snap’s launch was to address the challenging nature of manually tracking nutritional data and the user discipline it demands. With Snap, HealthifyMe aimed to simplify the process by making it as effortless as taking a picture, transforming the way individuals track their food consumption and enabling better-informed choices.

Snap’s AI model assures a 75% accuracy rate, constantly improving as it processes more images. Specifically tailored for Indian cuisine, Snap encompasses a wide range of Indian dishes and has the ability to recognize packaged and international foods available in India. Moreover, Snap incorporates privacy measures by solely uploading food-recognized images to the app.

HealthifyMe is committed to enhancing the Snap tool with an eye on further global food recognition, aiding international launches and improving food quantity recognition. The future holds prospects for passive tracking systems, envisaging a continued expansion of health attributes.
