Google Chat Launches New Feature

Google has presented the latest feature on Gmail that will let its users pin a specific Google Chat conversation. It will further be probable to pin a ‘room’ to the top of the list. The conversation or room would be pinned to the top of the list view in Gmail and the pinned messages can be availed from the left-hand navigation menu. The feature has started to roll out to eligible users and will be seen to everyone within some days. It will be accessed formerly for the customers of Google Workspace.

Pinning a chat will assist users to have track of significant updates as the chat will be seen on the top of the Chat list. As per Google, this will make them faster and easier to find. A red dot will appear next to pinned chats with unread messages on integrated Gmail. To pin a chat, users have to navigate to the said conversation which is under Chat or Rooms. Then click on More and then on Pin. To unpin a chat, follow a similar step, and click on Unpin.

The pinned conversation feature will be accessible on Android and iOS devices, and also on the Web. It will be accessed to users with the following plans: Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business +, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise +, G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education, and Non-profits customers.

Google Chat is in the method of substituting the classic Hangouts on Gmail. The update has already been releasing, and all eligible users are desired to make the change by the 1st half of 2021. While Google Chat will hold some Hangout features, like direct and group messaging, the company has said that it will remove a few other features.
