Jio Download Speed Dips & Vodafone Remains to Lead on Upload Speed Front

Jio saw a dip of 1.5Mbps in its average download speed in the month of October, as per the data provided by TRAI. Jio has although, still maintained its lead in 4G download speeds by providing as much as 17.8Mbps. This was over 95% faster than the 9.1Mbps average download speed delivered by Idea that stood 2nd in the race. In terms of upload speeds, the company has failed to show any magic and lead towards flat growth. It’s noted that TRAI is still counting Vodafone and Idea as distinct telcos on its MySpeed portal, despite their merger in 2019.

The newest data accessible on the MySpeed portal by TRAI displays that the Indian company has continued its leadership in 4G download speeds in the month of October, with an average download speed of 17.8Mbps. This was, although, down from the 19.1Mbps speed recorded in the month of September.

After Jio, the Idea retained its 2nd rank with 9.1Mbps speed. This was up 0.5Mbps from the 8.6Mbps download speed as observed by the MySpeed portal in the month of September.

The TRAI data displays that Vodafone came 3rd with an average download speed of 8.8Mbps, up from the 7.9Mbps recorded previously. Airtel has maintained a 7.5Mbps average download speed for 2 months.

If we talk about upload speeds, the data accessible on the MySpeed portal displays that Vodafone has retained its top position with 6.5Mbps speed as recorded in the month of October. This was flat when compared to the data posted for the month of September.

The TRAI data is based on the download and upload speeds it records via the MySpeed application on a monthly frame.
