Elon Musk has pledged a $1 billion donation to Wikipedia

Elon Musk, who acquired X, previously known as Twitter, has been making headlines for controversial posts on the platform. In one such instance, Musk offered to donate $1 billion to Wikipedia on the condition that they change their name to “Dickipedia,” citing it was in the interest of accuracy. He shared a screenshot of Wikipedia’s homepage with the message “Wikipedia is not for sale” and a “personal appeal from Jimmy Wales.”

Musk questioned the Wikimedia Foundation’s fundraising efforts, implying that it was unnecessary since the entire text of Wikipedia could fit on a phone. He then encouraged Wikipedia to add this condition to his Wikipedia page. Notably, when you send a query to Twitter, a poop emoji response is generated.

When a user suggested Wikipedia change the name temporarily, Musk responded that it should be for a minimum of one year.

Musk’s controversial tweets have garnered attention since he took over X. He previously mocked the alternative social media platform Mastodon using wordplay, resulting in him deleting those tweets.

His initial tweet showcased an image of Mastodon, stating, “If you don’t like Twitter anymore, there is an awesome site called Masterbatedone.” He followed this with a self-reply, questioning the dirty screen in the image. In a related tweet, he inquired about the term for someone skilled in baiting.

Musk’s tweets and actions on Twitter have been met with mixed reactions and have led to increased scrutiny of his social media presence.
