In yet another attempt to increase its market share, Apple has launched a buyback scheme for its iPhone 5C in India. The scheme allows Apple retailers to offer a minimum of Rs 7,500 off on iPhone 5C to its customers in exchange for the buyer’s old smartphones. The device was originally launched at Rs 41,900 and was reportedly available with some online retailers at a price of Rs 38,000.

Buyback offers have proven pretty successful for the smartphone vendors across the country, to boost the sales of their latest devices. Apple’s closest competitor, Samsung, is also offering a buyback scheme for its Galaxy S5 device, which was recently launched at Rs 51,500. The buyback scheme brings the price of the smartphone to Rs 44,000. However, some online retailers are already selling the Samsung Galaxy S5 for a slightly lower price of Rs 43,499. It is worth mentioning here that Samsung is pretty upset about this slashing price of the device by the online retailers. It went on to issue a statement, where the company clarified that it had not slashed the price of Galaxy S5.

Earleir, Apple CEO Tim Cook had disclosed that the iPhone sales in India had grown by 55 per cent. Such buyback schemes have a major role to play in this increasing market share of the Cupertino giant.
