Airtel, Google Partner on Cloud Storage

Airtel has announced a new partnership with Google, offering 100GB of free Google One cloud storage to its postpaid mobile and broadband users for a period of six months. This promotional deal is designed to enhance digital convenience and storage capacity for Airtel’s growing customer base.

The offer can be activated through the Airtel Thanks app, and is available to users on both Android and iOS devices. Once enabled, customers receive 100GB of shared cloud storage that can be used across Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail. A key feature of the plan is its family sharing option, allowing up to five users to access the same storage pool.

After the six-month free trial, users will have the option to continue the Google One subscription at a cost of ₹125 per month. This is a slight discount compared to the standard ₹130 per month charged by Google directly. If users choose not to renew the subscription, they will lose access to the extra storage but their files will remain safe temporarily until action is taken.

This collaboration between Airtel and Google is seen as a strategic move to add more value to Airtel’s service offerings while boosting user engagement with Google One services. It also reflects a growing trend of telecom-tech partnerships aimed at improving user experience through bundled digital services.

For users, the benefit is tangible — with ₹780 in savings over six months, and a seamless way to manage cloud storage needs. The integration into the Airtel Thanks app ensures an easy activation process, while compatibility with both major mobile platforms increases its reach.

This initiative follows a broader push by Airtel to differentiate itself in a competitive market by delivering value-added digital services, and underscores Google’s ongoing efforts to expand its cloud storage user base in India.
