Acer announces AI-powered e-bike for urban commuters

Acer has introduced the ebii, an AI-powered electric bike designed for urban commuting. The ebii features a single motor and an intelligent control box, known as ebiiAssist, which adjusts to the rider’s preferences, pedaling power, and route conditions for a seamless riding experience. The e-bike boasts a lightweight and minimalist design, along with smart safety features and a durable battery, making it an ideal choice for city dwellers. Acer aims to compete with electric scooters from brands like Xiaomi and others with this innovative offering.

The ebii stands out with its modular design, integrating the battery pack and control box into a single intelligent vehicle control box. This design not only simplifies maintenance and charging but also allows for easy upgrades. The motor of the bike delivers efficient performance, providing 250/350 W with 48 V CAN bus and 40 Nm torque. The ebii supports assisted riding at speeds up to 25 kilometers per hour, and riders can configure the wheel set as a front, center, or rear hub according to their preferences.

The AI-powered ebiiAssist function adapts to the rider’s pedaling power and preferred level of assistance. Over time, the AI technology intelligently adjusts to provide a more personalized riding experience by automatically tweaking motor output based on the rider’s pedaling and route environment. The ebiiGO app connects to the bike via Bluetooth, offering access to recommended routes, battery life, riding speed, auto-unlock settings, and more. The ebiiRide app, working with ebiiAssist, provides three modes: Eco Mode for power-saving, My ebii Mode for smart balance, and Boost Mode for speed and motor output adjustments based on road conditions and distance.

The ebii features a long-lasting and removable battery with a range of up to 110 km and a quick charging time of 2.5 hours. The battery uses AI-optimized power distribution for extended rides without worrying about running out of battery. The battery pack, apart from being removable, can also function as a portable charger for other devices. Riders can monitor the battery’s power supply through the ebiiGO app or the smart LED display on the handlebars, which provides alerts on remaining travel time and other essential information.

Acer’s ebii e-bike prioritizes safety with advanced features such as automatic lighting of the headlight and taillight at night, additional lighting under the control box for enhanced visibility, a Rear Collision Warning radar sensor to notify riders of approaching vehicles or objects from behind, and crash detection and e-bike health status notification for added peace of mind during travels. The e-bike is compact and lightweight, with a sturdy aluminum alloy frame weighing just 16 kg for easy maneuvering. Its sleek design, matte white finish, semi-transparent headlight, and LED display contribute to a modern aesthetic.

The ebii’s airless tires ensure safe high-speed riding, and the multilayer foam inserts eliminate worries about flat tires. The tires are made from closed-loop recyclable materials, aligning with sustainability goals. The e-bike’s durability is further enhanced by a rust-free carbon belt drive that requires no lubrication for maintenance. The removable battery pack allows for easy swapping and upgrades without replacing the entire bike structure.

Acer has not yet disclosed the availability and pricing details for the ebii AI-driven smart bike.
