Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 845

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced that its next flagship smartphone, will be powered by Snapdragon 845 mobile platform which has been unveiled today.
Speaking at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and chief executive officer, Xiaomi, said, “”I am very excited to be part of the Snapdragon Technology Summit and reaffirm that Xiaomi’s close relationship with Qualcomm Technologies in the premium tier will continue into 2018. Xiaomi is committed to making devices that combine cutting-edge innovations in technology and beautiful design, while defying price expectations, and we have chosen Snapdragon 845 to power our next flagship smartphone.” Jun also threw light on Xiaomi’s previous flagship devices that were powered by Qualcomm’s processors including Xiaomi Mi 1, Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note Pro, Mi 5 and Mi 6 smartphones.
Although he did not disclose which device will be Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone, a number of reports suggest that the Mi 7 will be the Chinese smartphone maker’s next flagship device.
Expected to be launched in the first half of next year, Xiaomi Mi 7 is likely to be made of glass and metal, much like its predecessor. Leaked images also show that the next flagship, will follow the current ‘bezel-less’ trend, and will sport thin bezels. The upcoming smartphone is expected to have a dual rear camera setup and reports also suggest that it will feature a 5.8-inch display. The display of the smartphone is likely to come with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Reports also suggest that Xiaomi Mi 7 will come in two storage variants – one with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and the other 8GB RAM and 256GB of on-board storage. The smartphone is likely to house a 3,950mAh non-removable battery. Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo topped with the company’s own MIUI 9.
