Xiaomi has launched a new variant of its cheapest smartphone Redmi 4A in India

Chines smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched a new variant of its cheapest smartphone in India, Redmi 4A. The company’s global vice president Manu Kumar Jain announced the launch of the smartphone on microblogging website Twitter. He, however, didn’t reveal if the current variant of the device too will be available.
Price and availability
The new variant of Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes at a price tag of Rs 6,999. The smartphone will be available on all leading e-commerce websites such as Amazon, Flipkart, TataCliQ, Paytm and on the company’s official website Mi.com starting August 31.
Specifications
The key difference in the new variant vs the existing model of Redmi 4A is the storage and RAM. The newly-launched Redmi 4A offers 32GB internal storage coupled with 3GB RAM. The current model offers 16GB internal storage with 2GB RAM at Rs 5,999.
The rest of the specifications of the two variants remain the same.
Xiaomi Redmi 4A sports a 5-inch HD display of 720×1280 pixel resolution. It’s powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset. The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s MIUI skin layer running on top.
The dual-SIM smartphone comes sans finger-print sensor. For imaging, the Redmi 4A has a 13MP rear camera with phase detection auto focus and LED flash. A 5MP front-facing shooter is also there. Major connectivity options include 4G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, with a 3,120mAh battery rounding off the spec-sheet.
Xiaomi is also ready to unveil another smartphone in the Indian market as the company has sent out invites for an event on September 5. The company will be launching Mi 5X smartphone at the event.
Xiaomi launched the Mi 5X smartphone in China last month. The highlight of the smartphone is its dual rear camera set-up and MIUI 9. The Xiaomi Mi 5X sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB RAM.
It has dual 12MP rear cameras, of which one is used for telephoto zooming while the other is for wide-angle shots. The wide-angle lens comes with f/2.2 aperture while the telephoto zoom lens comes with f/2.6 aperture. A similar setup was also used in the recently announced Xiaomi Mi6 flagship smartphone. There is also a 5MP front-facing sensor with real-time beautification feature.
Supporting a microSD card (up to 128GB), the Xiaomi Mi 5X also includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, A-GPS and USB Type-C. Besides featuring fingerprint sensors at the back, the Xiaomi Mi 5X also has support for DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm for better audio quality output. The device is backed by a 3080mAh battery and has a metal unibody design with curved edges.
