Wipro CEO Delaporte Resigns; Pallia Named Successor

Wipro’s CEO Thierry Delaporte has stepped down from his role, with Srinivas Pallia set to succeed him as the new CEO and Managing Director starting April 7. The IT company announced Delaporte’s resignation and Pallia’s appointment in a statement submitted to the exchanges.

According to the company filing, Delaporte’s resignation is effective from April 6, 2024, and he will be relieved from his employment with Wipro at the close of business hours on May 31, 2024. Following Delaporte’s departure, the Board of Directors convened on April 6, 2024, and approved Pallia’s appointment as the new CEO and Managing Director.

Pallia’s appointment is effective from April 7, 2024, for a term of five years, subject to the approval of shareholders and the Central Government. The filing also clarified that Pallia meets all regulatory requirements and is eligible to hold the office of director.

Delaporte, a seasoned IT professional with over three decades of experience, previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at Capgemini before joining Wipro as CEO and Managing Director in July 2020. During his tenure, Delaporte led Wipro through a significant transformation, driving financial growth and positively impacting associates, clients, and shareholders.

In his resignation letter, Delaporte expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Wipro’s growth and success, highlighting the company’s significant transformation under his leadership. He expressed confidence in Wipro’s continued success and prosperity in the future.

Pallia, who assumes the role of CEO and Managing Director, brings over three decades of experience at Wipro, where he held various leadership positions. With a comprehensive understanding of Wipro’s operations, Pallia previously served as the President of Wipro’s Consumer Business Unit and as the Global Head of Business Application Services. Most recently, he excelled as the CEO for Americas 1, spearheading growth initiatives in Wipro’s largest and fastest-growing market.

Pallia’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has also completed executive programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School and McGill Executive Institute, enhancing his leadership skills and strategic acumen.

Under Pallia’s leadership, Wipro aims to continue its growth trajectory and deliver value to its stakeholders. His appointment reflects Wipro’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting internal leadership to drive innovation and success in the ever-evolving IT industry.
