WD® INCREASES FOCUS IN RAJASTHAN

Showcases an expansive product range that meets the needs of
consumers across segments

SONY DSCWD®, a Western Digital company and storage industry leader plans to increase its focus in Rajasthan. As part of a multiple city tour that will span several weeks and touch a number of cities across India, WD showcased its wide range of products. With the growing adoption of internal hard drives and full-fledged storage solutions that are designed for consumers, SMBs and enterprises, Rajasthan is amongst the important markets for WD in India.

Jaipur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bhiwara, Kota, Bikaner and Jodhpur are the primary cities that are driving demand for consumer storage solutions in Rajasthan. WD is increasing its focus in the state by offering a wider product portfolio, and increasing availability of its products through a wider distribution network.

SONY DSCTalking to IT Voice, Mr. Subroto Das, Director – India & South Asia, WD, said, “Our goal with the Jaipur tour is to reach out to the end users, system integrators and channel partners in the city through various initiatives, educate them on the real world benefits of our various products and solutions and get valuable feedback to understand the demand patterns better.” Elaborating further, he said, “Rajasthan has always been an important market for WD as we have seen a consistent demand for all desktop and DV drives and premium products such as Velociraptor, Notebook Blue drives, My Passport Ultra and My Book Live which tells us that consumers in Rajasthan have a very real need for world class products that enable them to live their digital lives to the fullest.”

The majority of consumers in Rajasthan are actively choosing higher capacity internal hard disks. While 500 GB and 1 TB drives contributed the most to the total number drives sold in Rajasthan in 2012, the demand for higher capacity drives is expected to increase further.

WD products designed for SMBs and enterprises are also seeing positive adoption in Rajasthan owing to an increase in the number of new businesses being set up. “Rajasthan is seeing high IT penetration that is fuelling demand from towns and smaller cities. In terms of volumes sold, we expect Rajasthan to grow at a healthy rate of 15% in 2013,” added Das.

WD products are sold in Rajasthan through a strong network that comprises of 5 National distributors, 10 partners, more than 200 resellers and 50 system integrators, besides being available with key Large Format Retailers. WD’s current marketing campaign will reach out to end users in Jaipur across all three market segments via on-ground, in-city activities and via social platforms such as Facebook.
