VIT Bhopal University welcomed its 2026-27 undergraduate cohort through a comprehensive Freshers’ Orientation Programme, reflecting VIT Bhopal University’s vision of preparing graduates for industries being transformed by AI and digital technologies. Students and parents were introduced to the University’s academic philosophy, research-driven learning ecosystem, interdisciplinary curriculum, global collaborations, innovation culture, industry engagement, and the support systems designed to help students thrive academically and personally.
The event was inaugurated under the leadership of Chancellor, VIT Bhopal University, Dr. G. Viswanathan, and supported by Vice President Dr. Sankar Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President Ms. Kadhambari S. Viswanathan; Trustee Mrs. Ramani Balasundaram. Alongside the University leadership, Mr. Amit Chaudhry, Director, Microsoft CSS, joined as the Chief Guest, while IIT Kharagpur alumnus and distinguished spiritual thinker Swami Vigyanananda Ji, joined as the Guest of Honour. Ms. Priyanka Giri from the 2023 batch joined as a distinguished alumna.
Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor, VIT Bhopal University, encouraged the students to view their university years as an opportunity to develop not only technical excellence but also integrity, leadership and a commitment to nation-building.

Ms. Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President, VIT Bhopal University, said the institution seeks to shape graduates who are enabled enough to take on an increasingly technologically disrupted world: “You are entering higher education at a defining moment, when technology is reshaping every profession and every society. At VIT, our responsibility is not merely to prepare you for your first job, but to equip you for a lifetime of learning, innovation and leadership. Welcoming the students and guests, Dr. Sankar Viswanathan, Vice President, VIT Bhopal University, encouraged the incoming batch to view their university years as a journey of discovery, innovation and personal transformation. He emphasised that success in today’s world is built on strong fundamentals, interdisciplinary learning and adaptability, urging students to make the most of the University’s research-driven ecosystem, industry collaborations and opportunities for holistic development.
The programme covered students enrolled in Bioengineering, Computer Science and Engineering specialisations (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, E-commerce, Health Informatics, Gaming Technology and Education Technology), Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (AI in Cybernetics), Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (AI & Robotics), and Aerospace Engineering and Integrated M. Tech., excluding B. Tech CSE Core, BBA, B. Arch batches, which are slated for a later date.
Prof. Satish Kumar Modh, Vice Chancellor, VIT Bhopal University, said the University is committed to creating graduates who are ready for a future where AI and interdisciplinary knowledge will be central to every industry. Dr. T. B. Sridharan, Pro Vice Chancellor, emphasised that success at university extends beyond classroom learning, and the university is committed to providing all students with the necessary opportunities.
Delivering the keynote address, Swami Vigyanananda Ji, encouraged students to balance technological advancement with ethical values, purpose and self-awareness. He advised students to let their knowledge and rationale guide them.
Chief Guest Mr. Amit Chaudhry, Director, Microsoft CSS, shared valuable insights into the rapidly evolving technology landscape, emphasising that while AI is transforming the way people work, it will not replace those who are willing to learn, adapt and innovate. He encouraged students to prepare for the corporate world with a growth mindset, highlighting the importance of embracing challenges, learning from failures, and continuously upskilling to remain relevant in an AI-driven future.
Joining as distinguished alumna, Ms. Priyanka Giri, who now works at a multinational company, advised the newcomers not to be fully reliant on AI, but to use it wisely to stay ahead of the curve.
Beyond academics, VIT Bhopal University has built a holistic ecosystem to help students excel from the day they enter campus.
