Vedanta is currently engaged in discussions with Taiwan’s Innolux to establish a display fabrication plant in India

Executives from Vedanta Group and Taiwan’s Innolux Corporation recently met with Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, to discuss the establishment of a display fabrication plant in India. Mr. YJ Chen, CEO of Vedanta Displays Ltd; Mr. Sunil Duggal, Strategy & Policy Chairman; Mr. James Yang, President; and Mr. Jyh Chau Wang, Director of Innolux, were part of the delegation. The discussions center around India’s vision for domestic display manufacturing to achieve self-reliance in electronics manufacturing. Vedanta’s semiconductor and display business spokesperson confirmed ongoing talks for the display fabrication facility, emphasizing Vedanta’s commitment to supporting the government’s vision of a self-reliant India. The company had previously announced plans to establish an electronic chip and display manufacturing facility in the country. Vedanta had also formed a joint venture with Foxconn, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, which pledged a $19.5 billion investment for a semiconductor wafer fabrication plant. Despite Vedanta reporting a net loss of Rs 1,783 crore in the September quarter, its shares have rebounded over 14% from the 52-week low reached on September 28, 2023.
