Tradus targets the aam aadmi with Rs 19 deal on ‘jhaadus’

jhadu aam aadmiFollowing Groupon’s footsteps , Tradus has introduced a lucrative deal for the “aam aadmi”. Cashing in on the symbol of Aam Aadmi Party that made headlines with the Delhi election victory, the online store is selling brooms or jhaadus for Rs 19 per piece. Earlier, the retailer was selling them for Rs 5 as a promotional offer, but that stock sold out quickly.

Tradus seems to have been pretty inspired by the Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s agenda of cleaning out the corrupt in the political system. The website proudly proclaims, “Join Anti Corruption Campaign in Delhi. Pay Rs. 19 for this brand new Aam Aadmi ka Jhadu and celebrate the birth of corruption free New India.” It further explains how the broom has become a symbol of change and honesty, which resonates well with Tradus’ endeavor of bringing honest sellers who offer honest prices to buyers.

We aren’t sure if this would in any way help fight against corruption, but the company seems to have earned a good sale, which would have been the primary objective. Who knew there was such a demand for brooms? The site maintains that due to the unprecedented rush new broom deliveries may take up to 3-4 working days to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Aam Aadmi Party has been having a field day as far as the Internet goes and is clearly a darling of India’s connected citizens. Be it the massive Twitter victory over BJP and Congress on election day or using Facebook pages to reach out to each constituency. The party has acknowledged that social networks played a huge role in the Delhi victory. And this latest sales drive proves that the party has a certain brand appeal as well.
