The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 won’t be launched in markets beyond China

Earlier this week, Xiaomi introduced its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, in China. This device marks the third iteration of Xiaomi’s foldable series, following the original Mix Fold and Mix Fold 2, both of which remained exclusive to the Chinese market. The question arises: will the Mix Fold 3 be available globally? Daniel Desjarlais, Xiaomi’s Communications Director, shed some light on the matter.

As anticipated by previous reports, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will indeed remain restricted to the Chinese market. While other brands like Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Tecno, and OPPO have ventured into the international foldable phone arena, Xiaomi seems to be holding off on a global release until possibly 2024.

For interested buyers outside of China, the Mix Fold 3 can be pre-ordered from the online store Giztop at a starting price of $1,599. The device is offered in three color options: black, black fibre, and gold. Giztop provides three configurations: 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, and 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage. Shipping is set to commence on August 26th.

Specifications-wise, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 boasts an 8.03-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1916 x 2160 pixels, along with a 6.56-inch AMOLED cover screen offering 1080 x 2520 pixels. Both screens feature a refresh rate of 120Hz. Security is facilitated by a side-facing fingerprint sensor, and the device runs on MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

Camera-wise, the Mix Fold 3 features a 20-megapixel front camera and a 20-megapixel internal camera. On the rear, it incorporates a Leica-optimized 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 10-megapixel telephoto snapper with OIS and 3.2x optical zoom, a 10-megapixel periscope zoom camera with OIS and 5x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

Powering the Mix Fold 3 is the 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, paired with LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 4,800mAh battery. The device supports both 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
