The possibility of the Asus ROG Phone 8 series featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset has emerged from its appearance in the IMEI database

The global launch of the ROG Phone 7 series occurred in April this year, featuring cutting-edge specifications including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, an E4 AMOLED display, and a sizable 6000mAh battery. Although it’s still several months away from the unveiling of the Asus ROG Phone 8 lineup, these gaming smartphones have surfaced in the IMEI database, suggesting that they will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

GSMChina recently identified a potential listing for the Asus ROG Phone 8 series on the IMEI database. This upcoming series may consist of three models: the ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro, and ROG Phone 8 Ultimate. While the database did not disclose specific specifications, it provided insight into their respective model numbers, which could aid in identifying them in other databases.

According to the publication, the standard Asus ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Ultimate share the model number AI2401_A for the global market. Model number AI2401_C appears to pertain to versions of the ROG Phone 8 and Ultimate designed for the Chinese or Indian markets. Lastly, the model number AI2401_E is linked to the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

These new gaming smartphones are anticipated to launch next year, likely in the first quarter. Similar to their predecessors, the ROG Phone 8 models are expected to incorporate the latest flagship Qualcomm processor, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. These devices might also offer gaming-centric features such as AirTrigger ultrasonic air shoulder controls that support various gestures like dual actions, press and lift, and gyroscope aiming.
