Sony has introduced its latest ANC earbuds, the WF-1000XM5, with various improvements in design and sound quality. These earbuds aim to reclaim Sony’s position as a top contender in the wireless earbuds market. The new model offers enhanced sound and call quality while being smaller and lighter than its predecessor.
Sony boasts that the WF-1000XM5 provides the “best noise-canceling performance” thanks to two proprietary processors, a new high-performance driver unit, dual feedback microphones, and improved noise-isolating earbud tips.
The sound quality is also exceptional, with the Dynamic Driver X capable of 24-bit audio processing, producing robust sounds with minimal distortion. The earbuds support High-Resolution Audio Wireless via LDAC and spatial audio for a more immersive experience. Additionally, Precise Voice Pickup Technology ensures clear voice quality during calls.
The new design of the earbuds is another standout feature, featuring a glossy texture and being approximately 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous model. This design improvement makes them comfortable to wear for extended periods.
The WF-1000XM5 retains the convenience of multipoint connectivity, allowing users to connect up to two devices simultaneously. The battery life is also impressive, providing up to eight hours on a single charge, with an additional 16 hours in the case. A quick three-minute charge can offer one hour of playback.
The earbuds are suitable for active use, boasting an IPX4 rating for sweat and moisture protection. They come in two colors, black and silver, and are available for pre-order at $299.99.
