Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 spotted in purported press renders

Sony_Xperia_Z2_leaked pic_1It was reported that @evleaks, had tweeted about a more comprehensive list of specs for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 on Sunday. Come Monday, however, @evleaks released pictures of the tablet.

Reports suggest the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 is not very different in looks from the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, launched last year. It is important to note that @evleaks, has only put up the frontal pictures of the new tablet. On the other hand, the new twitter handle @gadgetleaks has posted more pictures of the same device.

While looks might not be very different between the current and new generation of Sony tablets, the specifications definitely are. In addition to having a waterproof body, the still yet-to-be-announced Xperia Tablet Z2 is said to have 10.1-inch Triluminos display with a resolution of 1900×1200 pixels. It is said to run Android 4.4 KitKat, and also be waterproof. The Xperia Tablet Z2 is also said to sport a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of inbuilt storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion. The main camera is said to be an 8-megapixel unit, with the front camera being a 2-megapixel one.

Sunday’s leak also mentioned that the tablet will be thin at 6.4mm, which, if true, would make it slimmer than the original Xperia Tablet Z, which was 6.9mm thick. The battery is stated to be a 6000mAh and the device is said to run Google latest mobile operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat

The pictures by @evleaks showcase the home screen of the new tablet and the pictures by @gadgetleaks are the isometric views. However none of them have shown the backside views of the device.

The rumours about the new Xperia Tablet Z have been doing rounds since January. The tweet by @gadgetleaks says, “Can confirm some more Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 Specs, @evleaks is accurate. Extra: Weight: 426g Wifi, 439g LTE. Dimensions: 266 x 172 x 6.4 mm.” The news was that a device, codenamed ‘Castor’ was in the making by Sony.
