Sony launches new range of headphones and speakers, price starts at Rs 2,790

Sony has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of multiple audio products. Launched at an event in New Delhi today, the new range includes three pairs of headphones and four Bluetooth speakers.
First launched at CES 2017 the Sony MDR XB950B1 is priced at Rs 12,990. The pair of headphones has Bluetooth and NFC support, and claims to offer 18 hours of battery backup on a single charge. The XB950B1 comes with 40mm drivers for a powerful bass output and has a foldable design, comprised of a metallic headband and cushioned earcups. The pair of headphones can be used with Sony’s Connect app that enables users to switch between multiple virtual listening environments including Arena, Club, Concert Hall and Outdoor Stage. It’s also possible to control bass boost functionality via the app.
The MDR XB550AP is a pair headphones that comes with 30mm drivers and extra bass support. An adjustable metal headband allows for a perfect fit. An inline mic allows users to handle phone calls while listening to music. Available in five colour variants, Sony MDR XB550AP is priced at Rs 3,290.
As for the MDR XB510AS, it’s priced at Rs 2,790. The pair of headphones comes with IPX5 and IPX7 certification for water resistance. They are also sweat proof and thus can be used during intense workout sessions.
Sony’s newly-launched Bluetooth speaker line-up includes four products – SRS-XB40, SRS-XB30, SRS-XB20 and SRS-XB10. These were also first unveiled at CES 2017. The Bluetooth speakers come with special lighting effects having multicolour patterns. Sony claims that the speakers deliver “club-like lighting effects with a LED perimeter line-light, a strobe flash and speaker light.”
All four speakers have IPX5 rating for water resistance. They also come with NFC support and work with Sony’s SongPal app. It’s possible to turn the lighting effects On/Off. Users can link up to 10 speakers via Bluetooth and can even pair speakers in stereo mode. The companion Fiestable app (available for SRS-XB40 only) enables DJ-like controls for lighting and colour effects.
The SRS-XB10 is the smallest of the four Bluetooth speakers and comes with a silicon strap, which can be used to hang it pretty much anywhere.
All four speakers feature Voice Guidance feature, which informs the users about the remaining battery life. They come in Blue, Black, Red, Green, White and Yellow colour options.
As far as the prices are concerned, the XB40, XB30, XB20 and XB10 cost Rs 13,990, Rs 9,990, Rs 6,990 and Rs 3,590 respectively. All the products will be available starting April 25.
