Sony Mobile accidentally revealed its upcoming smartphone, the Xperia E5, via a post on its official Facebook page. The company not only mentioned the name of the smartphone in the Facebook post, but also posted a photo showing the phone’s front and back. Not surprisingly, the post has now been deleted.
“Eager, effortless, and easy on the eye – it’s everything a smartphone should be. Say hello to your savvy new sidekick, Xperia E5,” read the caption accompanying the image. Talking about the design, the Sony Xperia E5 features a design that’s slightly different than that of the Xperia E4.
As seen in the accidentally leaked image, the Xperia E5 sports a slightly less curved design with more angular corners. The bezels on the top and bottom of the screen are also a bit bigger.
Coming to the back, the Xperia E5 features a camera at the top left corner. In addition, the ‘Sony’ branding at the center has been replaced with ‘Xperia’. There is no speaker grille at the back either, as is the case with the Xperia E4. This also means that the handset will most likely house the speaker at the bottom panel. There is no information on the smartphone’s specifications yet. Although Sony has not revealed the launch date of the Xperia E5 yet, judging from the date displayed on the phone’s screen it can be assumed that it would launch on June 5.
Sony Xperia E5 leaked a few days ago on a benchmarking website. As per the website listing, the handset features a MediaTek MT6735 SoC, 4.6-inch HD display, 1.5GB RAM, and 16GB of in-built storage. Sony is planning to launch its Xperia X range of smartphones in the Indian market by the end of this month. The launch will likely include the Xperia X, Xperia XA and the Xperia X Performance smartphones. The company might also showcase the recently launched Xperia XA Ultra.
