Satya Nadella greets Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, as the new CEO of Microsoft’s AI division

Prior to joining Microsoft, Mustafa Suleyman held the position of co-founder and head of applied AI at DeepMind, a well-known AI company that was later acquired by Google.

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, warmly greeted Suleyman as he took on the role of CEO for Microsoft’s artificial intelligence (AI) division. Suleyman’s appointment signifies a significant development for Microsoft’s AI endeavors, as he will lead efforts in developing consumer AI products and research initiatives, including prominent platforms like Copilot, Bing, and Edge.

Suleyman outlined plans to expand the company’s reach by making its API accessible to developers and businesses globally.

Reflecting on his past experiences, Suleyman highlighted his role in co-founding DeepMind Technologies, an AI and machine learning venture that gained significant backing and eventually caught the attention of Google, leading to its acquisition in 2014.
