Samsung Z2 Launching In India On August 23

Samsung has been rumoured to be developing another Samsung_Logo.svgbudget smartphone running its home-grown Tizen OS for quite a while. And now, it seems that it’s finally going to happen.

The South Korean tech giant has started sending out media invites for an event scheduled for August 23, where it will launch the Samsung Z2 .

The Z2 will be the third Tizen-based smartphone from Samsung to be launched in India, after the Z1 and Z3. As expected, the Z2 will most certainly be a budget-oriented device.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Z2 is expected to feature a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. The phone will likely have a 3.97-inch display of WVGA resolution. For imaging duties, the Z2 will probably have a 5MP rear-camera and a VGA (0.3MP) front-facing snapper, with a 1,500mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet. It’s also expected to run Tizen 2.4 out-of-the-box.

Recently, an ‘official-looking’ promotional video of the unannounced smartphone was leaked online. As per the video, shared by SamMobile website, Samsung Z2 will be first Tizen smartphone to come with 4G LTE support. It will also have features like Ultra Data Saving Mode, My Money Transfer app and more, exclusively for Indian users. The video also shows that users would be able to adjust the flashlight intensity on the device.

The company recently launched its Z3 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 8,490, the device has a 5-inch HD screen and runs Tizen 2.4 OS. It packs a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor and 1GB RAM. The phone also has 8GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards of up to 128GB in size.

Samsung Z3 comes with an 8MP Bright Lens F2.2 camera, while its wide-angle selfie camera has a 5MP resolution. The phone also comes with selfie-enhancing features like Beauty Face Mode and Automatic Selfie. Its 2,600mAh battery is backed by the Ultra Power Saving Mode, which provides standby time of up to 33 hours with less than 10% of battery life remaining.
