Samsung could launch two wearable devices along with Galaxy Note 8

Looks like the Galaxy Note 8 isn’t the only device Samsung is readying to launch on August 23. It’s been reported that the company could launch a new wearable device along with its latest flagship smartphone. As spotted by Android Headlines, a new fitness band going by the moniker ‘Samsung Gear Sport’ has passed FCC (Federal Communications Commission).
It is worth mentioning that since the product has passed FCC, it will in be — in all likeliness — ready to be released. Also, Samsung used last year’s IFA trade show to introduce a new Gear fitness band and this year it could do the same. IFA 2017 starts in Berlin on September 1 and will go till September 6.
No concrete details about the Gear Sport have been revealed. However, the listing says the device will support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which is pretty much the standard for a fitness band. The device may run on Samsung’s own Tizen OS. Since the device has ‘Sports’ in its name, it could be more like a fitness band rather than a smartwatch.
Talking about Samsung fitness bands, Sammobile website has spotted a ‘Gear Fit2 Pro Large’ support page on the company’s own website. This indirectly confirms the imminent arrival of the fitness band.
Last year at IFA 2017 Samsung launched its Gear Classic and Gear Frontier smartwatches. This year it could be the Gear Sport and the Gear Fit2 Pro.
For now, the smartphone market is abuzz with Galaxy Note 8 rumours and leaks. Recently, one of the prolific smartphone tipsters on the web, Evan Blass, has revealed what he claims are the ‘final’ specifications of the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, according to a report by the Venture Beat.
It has been claimed that the device will be IP68-certified. It is also said to sport a 6.3-inch Super Amoled screen with 1440×2960 resolutions. The display used here will be the ‘Infinity’ display, which will result in minimal bezels on top and bottom. The dimensions of the device is said to be 162.5×74.6×8.5mm.
In terms of processor, the phablet is said to run on the company’s own Exynos 8895 for select markets. US version of the smartphone is likely to receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor variant. The processor will be complemented with 6GB RAM along with 64GB inbuilt storage, which users will be able to expand up to 128GB using micorSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is supposed to boast two 12MP rear cameras. While one will feature a f/1.7 aperture and a wide angle lens, the other one will sport a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. There will be a front-facing 8MP camera on board as well. It will be backed by a 3300mAh battery.
