BANGALORE, INDIA: Research In Motion (RIM), known for its BlackBerry phones has launched a smartphone management tool for organizations, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.
It is intended to help enterprises manage efficiently not just BlackBerry devices, but other smart devices running on Android and Apple iOS as well. The roll-out is a part of RIM’s first phase of global launch in 20 countries and precedes the global release of BlackBerry10 smartphones. In India, the devices are expected to be launched by late February.
Since BES 10 would allow any non-BlackBerry user to get corporate email through pushmail on their existing devices, companies need not spend on getting new smartphones for employees, reports suggested.
Moreover, the billing would depend on the number of users and not the devices. It is priced at Rs. 5,300 (per user) for corporates.
According to RIM staff, the cost per user would be based on on volumes and the level of security offered. Also, RIM’s current enterprise clients can upgrade their present service with BES 10.
