Payments Failed for ICICI Bank Users

The Vadodara-based ICICI Bank is down and net banking, debit card, and UPI payments are not functional for many users in the country. Many users who are affected by it have raised grumbles against the outage on social media. Whilst numerous people are not able to make any payments via Bank’s net banking service, some of them are not even getting a one-time password for their payments. This is likely because of an abrupt upsurge in demand thanks to the e-commerce sales; or it could be some other matter completely, which will play destruction with purchasers who are trying to take benefit from these sales, as it is one of the biggest banks in India.

The ICICI Bank appears to have fixed the issue though some users are still broadcasting error messages.

According to the details accessible on a downtime tracking website, preliminary reports around the connectivity issues with the Bank have cropped up in the morning, however, the grumbles reached a peak at around 1:30 pm.

Several affected users reported problems with the Bank’s official website and its iMobile application on Twitter. In some instances, customers weren’t able to receive OTPs for their payments and the same happened with UPI and IMPS transfers. It has been observed that the bank servers have been down since 15th October.

The outage of ICICI Bank arrived when amazon has started the Great Indian Festival sale. Under the sale, which is live for members who have subscribed for Prime, is beginning for regular users from today i.e. 17th October, people using Amazon Pay ICICI card can be benefitted with additional cashback. Flipkart is also kicking off its Big Billion Days sale at the same time as Amazon. Nevertheless, at this point, it is unclear whether there is any link between the 2 events if it is because of Amazon sending an increase in demand, or whether ICICI bank has ended up playing kill joy with the sale instead.
