OnePlus to discontinue its 5-month-old smartphone, OnePlus 3T

OnePlus 3T, the refreshed version of flagship OnePlus 3 smartphone that launched almost five months ago in India, will soon be discontinued. The smartphone, as confirmed by one of the company employees on the OnePlus forum posts, has reached its end of production line. So customers will have to buy the device before it goes out of stock.
“This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out. Only a few devices are left in our warehouse, so purchase yours before time runs out at onepl.us/3T,” said Steven G. a OnePlus forum staff member.
This move by OnePlus might disappoint several customers who purchased the OnePlus 3T smartphone as it was launched just 5 months ago. It is worth pointing out that OnePlus 3 launched in India in June last year and got the refreshed OnePlus 3T model after six months.
At the time of the OnePlus 3T launch the company said it will be eventually discontinuing the OnePlus 3. If the same strategy is to be applied now, the company could really soon launch the OnePlus 5. The smartphone is already said to launch next month.
Although we don’t yet know the exact date when OnePlus plans to launch the OnePlus 5 flagship smartphone, we do know that it will be one of the most powerful handsets around at the time of the launch.
Both Qualcomm and OnePlus recently confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will be running the most ‘powerful’ mobile processor available right now, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
“With the OnePlus 5, our commitment to this philosophy continues. We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, which sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance. With graphically-demanding apps, for example, you’ll notice how fast they load and how well they run,” said Pete Lau, CEO, OnePlus on the company forum post.
