NASSCOM AND THE GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA SIGN MoU TO COLLABORATE FOR THE NASSCOM TECHNOLOGY AND LEADERSHIP FORUM 2019

The Government of Maharashtra and the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) have entered an agreement and signed a Memorandum of Understanding and partnered for NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum 2019 (NTLF). Formerly NILF, this association will inaugurate and highlight the newly termed NTLF as NASSCOM’s flagship event of the year.

The partnership supporting NTLF in Mumbai has been signed on for a five-year period and will end in 2023. The partnership will help build a successful relationship and thus a successful event for NASSCOM and the Government of Maharashtra for the year. With this event, the government aims to support the flourishing IT sector and technology workforce in the state. The alliance is also aimed at increasing collaboration on skills and new technologies, assisting with policy development and encouraging innovation in the state of Maharashtra.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Chetan Samant, Director NASSCOM and Shri Satish Gavai IAS – Additional Chief Secretary – Industries, Govt of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Murugesh, Vice Chairman, NASSCOM and Group CEO, WNS Global Services, said, “This landmark MoU between NASSCOM and the Government of Maharashtra will establish the newly branded NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum and set the pedestal for a long-term partnership to foster growth in emerging technologies and cutting-edge skills in the IT sector of the state. It is imperative that the partnership grows beyond NTLF 2019 and builds on incorporating a state equipped with relevant developments in the new global economy.”

Welcoming the signing of the MoU, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister Maharashtra, said, “Maharashtra is delighted to partner with India’s most respected technology association, NASSCOM to create the World’s most impactful Technology and Leadership property through NTLF and take Maharashtra’s current technology thinking to the next level of execution and success at a state level.”

Maharashtra accounts for more than 30 percent of the country’s software exports, with over 1,200 software units based in the State, thus providing a familiar and friendly environment for the IT companies. This MoU is the latest in a series of initiatives to promote further development of IT/ITES sector in the state. The steps include formulation of a progressive sector-specific policy, development of IT parks and the knowledge corridor.
