Moto G (Gen 2), Moto X (Gen 2) and Moto 360 Smartwatch Launched In India

Finally the wait for Motorola lovers is over. Motorola has unveiled the second generation of its Moto G and Moto X today. The second generation devices are called Moto G (Gen 2) and Moto X (Gen 2). In addition to the smartphones, the company has also launched the much-awaited Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch

While the launch event was supposed to take place in Chicago, Motorola has launched the smartphones first in India. Moto G and Moto E became quite popular in India, so this market couldn’t be underestimated by the company. Both the second generation phones run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the company has also confirmed that an Android L update will roll out for both the two devices. Motorola also mentioned that for the time being the older versions of Moto G, Moto X and Moto E will remain there on Flipkart, but will be phased out with time.

The Moto G (Gen 2) is available in two variants – 8GB and 16GB. This second generation Moto G has a microSD card slot too and the 16GB variant is priced at Rs 12,999. The phone will go on sale at midnight tonight via e-retailer Flipkart. It features a 12.7-cm (5-inch) HD (720×1280 pixel) display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) processor, 1GB RAM and Adreno 305 GPU. It features 8MP autofocus rear camera and a 2MP front camera. It has dual front speakers too. Moto G (Gen 2)’s connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi 80211.ac, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The company has announced India pricing and availability of Moto G (gen 2) but has not disclosed the same for Moto X (Gen 2) yet. The Moto X (Gen 2) will be available in two storage size variants – 16GB and 32GB, but without any microSD card slot. It features a 13.21-cm (5.2-inch) (1080×1920 pixel) OLED display with a pixel density of 423 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The new Moto X also features 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974-AC) processor, 2GB RAM, 13-MP rear camera with a f/2.25 lens with 4K video recording and dual-LED ring flash, along with 2MP front-facing camera capable of 1080p video recording. Like Moto G (Gen 2), the Moto X (Gen 2) also features dual-front speakers and its connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 80211.ac, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch will be available in the Indian market later this month. The Moto 360 sports 3.96-cm (1.56-inch) backlit LCD display with 320x290p resolution with the option of a light or dark stainless steel case and grey or black Horween leather band. The watch is powered by a 320mAh battery and it runs on a Texas Instruments OMAP 3 processor. The watch also features 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.

As pre-launch leaks claimed, Moto 360 has an in-built pedometer and heart rate monitor. It comes with a heart activity tracker app and it has a single physical button, vibration motor and dual microphones. The Motorola smartwatch is compatible with devices running on Android 4.3 or above and it can take voice commands and have Bluetooth 4.0. Moto 360 also features wireless charging and comes with a charging dock
