One of the most fierce blood driven game of 90’s , Mortal Kombat is going to re-release itself as Mortal Kombat 1 with a new roster of the famous and all-time favorite characters. In the 90s its over-the-top violence and sexualized content was quite controversial. This wasn’t enough to stop it from becoming the best-selling fighting game franchise of all time though. The Warner Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios driven game is expected to be released around 19th September, 2023 with an early access around 14th September for those who pre-order the special editions of the game.

Several rumors have been rolling over the internet through the past weeks about this fight-action-saga. The characters which have been showcased in the official trailer video by the owners on the internet included the nine confirmed characters as Kitana, Kung Lao, Fire God Liu Kang, Mileena, Raiden, Scorpion, Shang Tsung (as a pre-order bonus), Jhonny Cage, and Sub-Zero. Fans can expect surely more character announcements as the release date approaches. One significant revelation from the official reveal trailer is the game’s plotline. It appears that the canon ending of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, where Liu Kang creates a new universe, is the basis for Mortal Kombat 1, which they are referring to as the New Era.

The trailer hasn’t shown much of fighting in it as the revelation of storyline was the main focus of the video, but it was noticeable that the taste of Fatality moves which were games’ trademark surely keeps the spice up. Talking about the platforms where it is to be launched , the game will be available for purchase on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but not on PS4 or Xbox One. Curiously, Shiver Entertainment and Sabre Interactive are creating a full-fledged remake of Mortal Kombat 1 for the Nintendo Switch, with NetherRealm overseeing development. The PC version is being developed by QLOC.

Explaining further about the prices Mortal Kombat 1 will retail for $70 on PC, the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition will cost $110 and the Kollector’s Edition will be $250. NetherRealm has also mentioned an in-game currency, Dragon Krystals, but exact pricing on those aren’t available yet.
