Meta Introduces Premium ‘Instagram Plus’ Subscription Tier in India for ₹299 a Month

Meta has officially launched an optional premium subscription service called “Instagram Plus” for users in India. Priced at ₹299 per month (totaling ₹3,588 annually), this new paid tier is designed to grant power users advanced profile customization options, deeper audience insights, and enhanced content controls that are completely unavailable on the platform’s standard free version.

The subscription introduces highly requested features, particularly focusing on how users interact with Stories. Subscribers gain access to “Story Spotlight,” which prioritizes their posts at the front of their friends’ feeds, and a “Story Extend” tool that stretches a post’s lifespan from 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, paying members can curate an unlimited number of custom audience lists via the “Multiple Story Audiences” feature, get a built-in “Story Preview” to prevent formatting mistakes, and view “Story Rewatch Insights” to track how frequently their content is being re-watched.

For profile personalization, Instagram Plus includes tools to swap out the standard mobile application icon with exclusive creator-designed variants, apply unique fonts to profile biographies, and pin up to six static posts instead of the traditional three. Premium users can also leverage private utility upgrades, such as a specialized search filter to quickly see if a specific follower has viewed their content, and the ability to upload media directly to their profile tab or Highlights without broadcasting it to their followers’ main news feeds. The premium service is currently rolling out gradually to Indian subscribers through the app’s internal account settings menu.
