Meta brings avatar video calls to Instagram and Messenger

Meta has introduced avatars across its various services, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Users can create their virtual selves and use them as emojis or profile photos. Now, Meta is taking it a step further by allowing users to use their avatars during video calls on Messenger and Instagram.

This expansion of avatars aligns with Meta’s vision of the metaverse. During video calls, the avatars will reflect users’ facial expressions and mouth movements, making the experience more natural and expressive.

Additionally, Meta has introduced animated avatar stickers in Instagram and Facebook, allowing users to share interactive and expressive reactions in Stories, Reels, comments, and messages. The new features are available on both Android and iOS versions of the apps.
