Instagram latest update now shows when you were last active

Taking cue from its sibling apps– Facebook and WhatsApp– Instagram has also now added a feature that will let your followers know when you were last active on the app. The feature shows up as an activity indicator within the direct messages window of the Instagram. The feature has been rolled out to all iOS and Android users.
Once you update your Instagram, you will see ‘Active Now’ or ‘Active 3h ago’ under the person’s name in the direct message window. The feature is similar to WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, allowing others to see when you were last online. The feature is toggled on by default. However, like Facebook and WhatsApp, you can hide your last active on Instagram too.
To disable the feature, go to the Settings in the app and simply disable the Show Activity Status button. Once disabled, no one will be able to see when you were last active but you also won’t be able to see the other’s online status.
Instagram is also testing a new feature called Type. The feature appears at the bottom of the Stories camera and offers options for written stories mainly. You can choose from several fonts. You can select a picture in the background and write over it or you can simply select a font and Instagram will automatically select a background for it.
In a separate news, WhatsApp which is also owned by Facebook has today launched its business app. The app is free for download and is available to Android users. The app mainly caters to all business-related requirements like creating a business profile, enabling quick replies for common queries and more. As of now, the WhatsApp Business app for Android is free to download, but the company could introduce a freemium version in the future, a WhatsApp spokesperson said.
