Instagram introduces new filters for the first time in a long while

Instagram is undergoing significant changes, particularly in content sharing and audience segmentation.

Meta-owned Instagram is now focusing on its creative tools, introducing several features, including the app’s first new filters in a while.

The update includes 25 new filters on iOS, featuring subtle color edits and expressive styles, providing users with various options for their posts.

Users can adjust the intensity of the filters using a slider. Notably, some filters, like “wide angle” and “wavy,” bring significant changes to original images instead of just altering color and tone.

Instagram aims to compete with other apps like VSCO and Picsart by extending the range of its filters.

The new filters include Fade, Boost, Graphite, Hyper, Rosy, Emerald, Midnight, Grainy, Gritty, Halo, Color leak, Soft light, Zoom blur, Handheld, Moiré, Lo-res, Wide angle, and Wavy, among others.

The update also brings improvements to Reels, with testing underway for scaling, cropping, and rotating individual clips, along with undo and redo buttons.

Additionally, Instagram is testing the ability to create custom stickers from photos and videos in the camera roll or from eligible content on the platform.

The company is streamlining drafts view, providing quicker access to the audio page in Reels, and offering more data for creators.

Creators will soon be able to see how many people are watching their Reels on a moment-by-moment basis.

Instagram continues to evolve its features and offerings to enhance user engagement and keep pace with changing trends in social media.
