Indian government releases a serious alert for Android users

The Indian government has issued a “high severity” warning to Android users regarding potential vulnerabilities.

The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has reported multiple vulnerabilities in Android.

These vulnerabilities are present in Android versions 10, 11, 12, 12L, and even 13. The CERT-In has highlighted that attackers could exploit these vulnerabilities to access sensitive information, gain higher privileges, and disrupt system functioning.

To counter this, CERT-In strongly advises users to promptly update their phone’s software. The vulnerabilities originate from weaknesses in various components including Framework, Android Runtime, System Component, Google Play system updates, Kernel, Arm components, MediaTe components, and Qualcomm closed-source components.

To ensure the security of their Android devices, users are urged to apply the latest security patches, with Google having already released patches to address these issues.
