IBM Promotes The Path For Digital India With Cloud, Analytics, Mobile And Social

Labs in India showcase new groundbreaking innovations

IBM today revealed its latest innovations designed to help organizations drive growth and productivity using cloud, analytics, The IBM logo is seen outside the company's offices in Petah Tikvamobile and social technologies. As consumer and citizen expectations for seamless, connected experiences continues to rise in India, the IBM Labs are accelerating their work to bring innovation to a range of industries in both public and private enterprise, to help create a Digital India.

According to IBM IBV study titled Innovating India – In pursuit of global leadership, the path forward to sustained success lies with those organizations that pursue innovation—embracing innovative processes, encouraging innovative behaviors and creating sustained innovation. Innovation affords a way for India to sustain and expand its growth success.

“Businesses have realized that institutionalizing innovation is key for creating a competitive edge and sustaining leadership. Organizations in India, have started embracing technology to build innovative business models to enhance consumer experiences.” said Kaushik Bhaskar, Vice President, India Software Labs, IBM India. “Augmenting existing competencies across our labs around the new technologies is a result of this paradigm shift.”

Featuring methodologies and best practices from IBM’s customer engagements around the world, new innovations include:

Response in an Emergency
An Analytical Solution Framework for Emergency Management comprising of Predictive Models, helping in optimum allocation of resources. The solution enables the emergency workers with a collaborative and decision management system to mitigate the risks involved.

Personalized Learning on Cloud
IBM Personalized Learning on Cloud enables personalized learning and an exceptional student experience, aligning students to career pathways and fostering economic vitality. It combines predictive analytics, and best practices to provide comprehensive guidance for each student.

Apatani (mHealth solution for Community Health Workers)
Apatani transforms the way the public health workers deliver health services compared to their current basic approach. This solution empowers them with technology and enables them to transform the way they deliver healthcare services. Apatani also provides near-real time citizen health & logistics data hence drastically reducing the response time during public health emergencies.

Digital Locker
The Digital Locker will provide dedicated personal storage space, linked to each resident’s Aadhaar number. The program aims to enable citizens to share e-documents with government agencies thus eliminating the need for hard copies of notarized documents. By sharing these documents through registered repositories, it will ensure authenticity of documents online, thus eliminating fraud and loss of important certificates and documents.

Auto Dx
AutoDX, a business-to-business (B2B) cloud-based network which accelerates the movement of data and reducing transaction costs by up to 80 percent. This solution eliminate inefficiencies by standardizing, automating and accelerating the exchange of transactional data through the cloud. It drives faster, more accurate processing at reduced operational cost, helping ensure the right products are delivered to the right customers at the right time.

Accelerating Enterprise in the Cloud — the OpenPOWER Platform
The OpenPOWER Consortium is an industry body formed with the goal to create an open ecosystem and enable data centers to rethink their approach to technology. Through “collaborative innovation”, they leverage every partner’s complementary technical strengths to revolutionize the product portfolio across the entire hardware and software stack. Some of the OpenPOWER innovations are:

§ CAPI :                                                                                                     CAPI shows how having a coherent accelerator attached to a high end processor can boost application throughput and yet make programming simpler for an end user.

§ Espresso Demo :                                                                                     IBM in partnership with NVIDIA released its first Open Power Server System S824L with 2 Tesla K40 GPU cards for heterogeneous computing. These systems can accelerate the performance of big data/HPC workloads in the order of 8-10X. This demo would cover Power8 & GPU acceleration on a popular machine learning algorithm used in big data analytics.
