Huawei Mate 9 smartphone with 4GB RAM, dual Leica camera setup, launched

Huawei has finally launched its much-teased Mate 9 smartphone at an event in Munich, Germany. The company said that the huaweismartphone will be first made available in China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and United Arab Emirates, followed by other key markets.

Bearing a price tag of 699 Euros, the smartphone will be available in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White, and Black colour options.

Huawei Mate 9 has an all metal body and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, topped with Emotion UI layer. The phablet-class smartphone has a large 5.9-inch Full HD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution.

Powering the Mate 9 is Huawei’s latest octa-core Kirin 960 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. With dual-SIM capability, the smartphone has 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded further via microSD cards.

The USP of the Huawei Mate 9 is its second-generation Leica cameras. The smartphone has a dual-camera setup, comprised of a 20MP monochrome module and a 12MP colour module. In addition, optical image stabilization (OIS), a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus system (having laser, phase detection, depth and contrast detection) is included in the mix. There’s also dual-tone dual LED flash.

Huawei claims that the rear cameras support Hybrid Zoom feature, enabling users to zoom without sacrificing quality. The smartphone can also recording 4K resolution video. An 8MP front-facing camera takes care of selfies and video calling tasks.

For connectivity, Huawei Mate 9 offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. It packs a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.

Last month, Huawei launched its Honor 8 smartphone in India. The flagship smartphone is priced at Rs 29,999. It comes with a dual rear camera setup.

Having a metal body design with a glass back, Huawei Honor 8 comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It features a 5.2-inch Full HD 2.5D curved display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution. Powering the device is an octa-core Kirin 950 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It offers 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards.
