Aerospace experts along with defence industries have asked for the structuring of an ecosystem for honing skills for the ‘Make in India’ initiative to be a success.
According to former scientific advisor to defence minister, VK. Aatre, “The industry and academia have to jointly build an ecosystem to invent, innovate and industrialise for the government’s ‘Make in India’ programme, as our human resources have not been skilfully tapped or trained”
He also stated that the ‘Make in India’ programme would just be a slogan if there’s not a proper ecosystem in place for conceptualisation, design and hold intellectual property rights in India. He celebrated the success of the services sector which is guided by the software industry. India requires a similar set up in engineering sector for sustaining development and building an ecosystem for ‘Make in India.’
He also pointed out that India can become a world power only by becoming an economic power. Also, India needs to become a knowledge power, which can only come from Science and Technology.
