Google Plans To Remove QuickOffice From App Stores

Users will not be able to see or install QuickOffice app, existing users can continue to use the old version of app.” said Google in the official blog post.

Google recently launched Docs and Sheets apps on Android and iOS. Company has also announced native editing support for Google docs. Users will be able to save files as MS Word files. Users can also import their existing MS Word documents into Google docs. Google docs can be the real competition to Microsoft Office. This is a big change in document formatting on Android and iOS smartphones.

Google announced company’s future plans about Google Docs, Slides and Sheets at I/O 2014. Google has integrated QuickOffice service in Google Docs now. So, there is no longer need of separate Google QuickOffice app. QuickOffice was acquired by Google in 2012. It served free document viewing and editing on Android and iOS for 2 years. Company has decided to discontinue this free service.
