Google Introduces Spotlight Stories App

Google has recently introduced Spotlight Stories app. Described as “mobile movie theater”, the application Google-Spotlight-storiesapparently helps users to play 360-degree movies on the phone. Created with Motorola in 2013, the app is already available on Android. However, with an aim to expand its user base, the Spotlight Stories app has now made its way to the iPhone operating system (iOS.)

In order to create an immersive image, the app blends 3D and 2D animation with 360-degree spherical ‘cinema-quality’ video, sphere audio and sensor fusion techniques. As per a report published on Techcrunch.com, the app makes use of the phone’s motion sensors like gyroscope and accelerometer to enable the users to look through various angles within 360-degree sphere.

One can also have a look inside the animated content by moving their body and the phone to go through different parts of the story. It however does not enable the users to make such sorts of movies for their use. The app currently features four animated films which were created exclusively for Spotlight Stories namely, Buggy Night, Windy Day, Duet and Help. The application is available for download and requires iOS 8.0 or later Operating System.
