Flipkart acquires minority stake in MapmyIndia


India’s online retail giant, Flipkart has purchased a minority stake in MapmyIndia which deal in digital map data, GPS navigation, tracking, location-based apps and GIS solutions.
The company’s tactic to renovate supply chain through technology is bolstered by this deal to licence map data and location technologies from MapmyIndia.
The aim of this deal is to deploy location intelligence capabilities across company’s logistics network which will help them enable its strengthen in first-mile pickup, and last mile delivery operations.
The online retail gaint is eyeing to introduce services like better address verification, real-time shipment tracking, facility mapping and theft minimisation via Geo-fencing.
